Gendered Archive: Vessels/1

Vessels/1 are layered monoprints created using acrylic paint, flexible printing plates and tissue paper.

The prints have been taken from elements of the everyday with patterned or textured surfaces. These include vintage pressed glass vessels, domestic textiles, dressmaking patterns and instruction sheets, packaging materials and everyday ephemera.

The printed tissue papers have then been cut to size and applied to collaged/black painted canvas panels.

The work continues the theme of 'The Gendered Archive' by using domestic objects that have been passed down through the female family line. Working with Granny's crochet doilies and Mother's glass trifle dish continues the usage of everyday objects whilst conjuring memories of happy family events.
